One of the first hospital renovations under the new Health Care Law has been completed at the Bayonne Medical Center. Seamless surfaces, products that naturally fight bacteria between housecleaning cycles, and new standards for patient comfort have guided this project. Upon seeing the new Transitional Care Unit, nurses remarked “Oh my gosh, this place is awesome, it feels like a hotel room!”

Project Highlights:
As a very busy hive of activity, DKA re-imagined the Nurses Workstation to reduce stress, increase visibility and maintain accuracy in operations. The renovations required foresight and planning to reduce downtime in construction to the minimum with the least disturbance to occupants on other portions of the floor. The upgrades included revitalized corridors and lighting. DKA interiors also designed biophilic artwork and mapping to encourage patient mobility and cognitive functioning.

From Cryosurgery to Dentistry this the veterinary hospital has the latest design and technology. In addition, Kowal Architects designed dog grooming, breeding and boarding facilities. Kowal Architects coordinated and managed the services from the complicated zoning approvals through construction and interior design.
